At first glance, the new Volkswagen GTI looks deceptively similar to previous versions. However, there were some great updates for 2015. The new 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI made numerous improvements over the previous models. VW stepped up the power, handling and suspension systems this time around. It is available in 2-door or 4-door versions, and you can choose from automatic or 6-speed manual transmissions.
The new VW Golf GTI maintains the traditional hatchback-style back end that we are used to seeing. The 2015 is longer and wider than it used to be, but the new hood design gives it a short look. There is a more extreme slope to the front end that gives a smooth transition from the windshield to the hood.
Interior
Even though the Volkswagen Golf GTI is a compact car, it has the space to fit 5 passengers comfortably. The added size gives more space in the back seat. There is nice fabric on the seats, and the front seats are even heated! The hatchback style offers a copious amount of cargo space and the folding back seats expand the already generous storage area to over 50 cubic feet.
Features
Volkswagen has stepped up the tech in the 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI. It comes standard with Bluetooth, USB plugs, and iPod connections. There is now an almost 6-inch touch screen display with optional navigation and driver assist safety features. The outside of the car has 18-inch wheels, LED fog lights and heated side mirrors. Inside, the air conditioning and cruise control are also standard.
Safety
The 2015 VW Golf GTI has received an overall "good" crash test safety rating from the Insurance Institution for Highway Safety. The car is equipped with antilock brakes, as well as stability and traction control. For driver and passenger safety, the 2015 Golf GTI has several airbags and includes larger brakes than the previous model. The new Golf also comes with post crash braking that automatically engages the brakes after a collision in order to help prevent another crash. Additional safety options are available with the VW car-net system like crash notification, collision warning and other driver assist features.
