Performance
The Passat 1.8T group is powered by VW’s 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine generating 170-horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a six-speed automatic. The top-end Passat is equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 that produces a robust 280 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The Passat V6 comes with a six-speed transmission additionally equipped with paddle shifters. The 1.8T is EPA-rated at a highly economical 25 mpg City and 38 mpg Highway. The more powerful V6 engine is measured at 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The Passat 1.8 comes with 16-inch aluminum wheels while the high performance V6 is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
The 5-passenger 2016 Passat is offered with high quality cloth seats or optional leather in the higher trim levels. The cloth upholstery choice is Titan Black or Moonrock Gray to coordinate with one of the six exterior color choices. High-quality leather seating and interior trim are offered in a choice of three colors: Moonrock Gray, Titan Black and Titanium Beige. Standard on all models, a rearview camera projects the rear image through the dash mounted touchscreen while reversing.
Features
For information, entertainment and communication, Volkswagen’s own MIB II System is managed by one of two different sized touchscreens depending on the trim line selected. Available in most trim configurations, “capacitive” touchscreens can be adjusted with swipe- and-pinch control in the same manner as smartphones and tablets. The VW Car-Net App- Connect allows you to connect to such smartphone applications as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Maps, and music. With Bluetooth® connectivity, you will be able to place and receive phone calls hands-free with simple voice-recognition commands.
