The 2016 Volkswagen Beetle finds a beautiful balance of fun and efficiency in its performance. It is available in three different engines, each of which come in a manual and automatic transmission. The first Beetle features a 2.0 liter turbo-diesel with 150 horse power. The base engine Volkswagen Beetle is a 1.8 liter turbo charged 4 cylinder. It has a 170 horsepower and can be bought in manual or automatic transmission. With the Volkswagen Beetle R-Line you will have 210 horsepower and a 2.0 liter.

Performance

The 2016 Volkswagen Beetle is sold in hard top and convertible. The 2016 hard top got a 5 star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It features a mix of the Volkswagen's original design and new up to date elements.

Interior

The 2016 Beetle interior features seating for four people. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather for a sleek look. This beetle seems to be more gender neutral than the Beetles that came before. The interior is simple, while incorporating modern tech.

Features

The 2016 Beetle features vary from model to model, but none will disappoint. All Beetle 1.8 models are available in S, SE, and SEL levels. The 2.0 Beetles are only available in the SE and SEL trims. The 1.8 S model comes with 16 inch wheels, a rear spoiler, automatic headlights, auto dimming mirror, cloth upholstery, Bluetooth®, and a USB port.

All SE versions have 17 inch wheels, heated front seats, leatherette seating services, ambient lighting in three colors, a review camera, 6.3 inch touchscreen, voice control, and satellite radio with a free trial.

The SE has chrome exterior side moldings, key-less entry, and push-button start. The R-Line SE has 18 inch wheels, unique front and back bumpers, sport suspension, fog lights, black exterior trim, and sport seats. The SEL version comes with 18 inch wheels, a blind spot monitor, navigation, rear traffic alert, sunroof, key-less entry, and push button start.

The SEL also includes exterior chrome side moldings, and a Fender audio system. The R-Line SEL adds 19 inch wheels, daytime running lights, leather seating, and the Fender audio system. The lighting package is all new for 2016 with featured headlights, daytime running lights, and a license plate light. The convertible follows a similar line up with similar features, though the base model is a bit better.

Safety

Safety equipment on the beetle includes front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, and stability control. The SE and SEL have rear-view cameras, while the SEL adds a blind spot monitor and rear traffic alerts. 2016 models also added an Automatic Post Collision Braking System to reduce the possibility of second impact. The 2016 Volkswagen Beetle offers large windshields and mirrors for added safety.
